Close encounter with the VVIP: Deputy Chief Minister of Sarawak, Tan Sri Datuk Amar Dr George Chan, the Chief Minister of Sarawak, Pehin Sri Haji Abdul Taib Mahmud and Datuk Yaw Teck Seng. They were here at Miri Eastwood Valley Golf & Country Club to witness the launching of the Yaw Teck Seng Foundation in conjunction with Datuk Yaw's 70th Birthday.

Buffet dinner was provided for MOC members at the Eastwood Valley Golf & Country Club before the performance.

I was invited as guest musician to play for the above concerts with the NSO. It feels good to be able to 'play' with them because in KK most of the time I will only play with chamber groups or doing solo for recitals and conducting.

Yap Ling will be leading the Festival Chamber Orchestra for the Mendelssohn Elijah Concert Tour of Sibu, Bintulu & Miri from 8th to 10th December 2008 under Maestro Rev. Lee Chong Ming.

A complimentary Talk on "What is orchestra?" at the SRS Datuk Simon Fung. Powerpoint presentation coupled with live demonstration and illustration. Hopefully this sort of activities will help to raise the music standard, awareness and appreciation as a whole in KK.
